Resident Assistants (RAs)

Resident Assistants

Our Resident Assistants are professional day-brighteners, hand holders, and experts in senior care. They serve an essential role in our community by creating a supportive environment for residents while promoting their independence and well-being. As a RA, you’ll do things like:

  • Assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  • Monitor resident health, including checking vital signs, administering medication, and responding to emergencies.
  • Plan and organize social and recreational activities for residents that promote social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation.
  • Provide companionship to residents, listen to their stories, and offer emotional support.
  • Assist with housekeeping tasks like laundry, cleaning, and organizing to ensure residents have a clean and safe living environment.
  • Communicate with families and medical professionals to ensure residents receive the appropriate care and support they need.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)

Licensed Practical Nurses

Licensed Practical Nurses are the lifeblood of our team — serving as mood-lifting experts for our residents. They provide basic medical care and support to residents under the supervision of an RN, ensuring that they receive the appropriate level of care and support to maintain their health, independence, and overall well-being. As an LPN, you’ll do things like:

  • Administering medications to residents, including oral medications and injections, under the supervision of an RN.
  • Performing basic medical procedures, such as wound care, dressing changes, and catheterizations, as directed by an RN.
  • Monitoring residents’ health, including taking vital signs, observing and reporting changes in their condition, and providing ongoing support and care as needed.
  • Assisting with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as needed.
  • Providing emotional support to residents and their families, listening to their concerns, and providing reassurance and comfort.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records for each resident, documenting their medical history, treatment plan, and ongoing care.

Registered Nurses (RNs)

Registered Nurses

We like to call our Registered Nurses “Life Enthusiasts” at Walker Methodist. They play a critical role in ensuring residents receive high-quality medical care and support while maintaining their health, independence, and overall well-being. As an RN, you’ll do things like:

  • Providing medical care, administering medications, managing medical equipment, and performing medical procedures as needed.
  • Assessing and monitoring residents’ health continuously, including monitoring vital signs and responding to changes in health.
  • Working with other healthcare professionals to develop care plans for residents.

  • Advocating for residents and their families, ensuring their voices and needs are heard.
