Health Center adopts a new flexible scheduling model that benefits team members

Here at the Walker Methodist Health Center in southwest Minneapolis, we’re excited to offer another benefit to our amazing, dedicated team members: flexible scheduling.

In most companies, flexible scheduling means that there are lots of open shifts, and team members will need to be flexible and pick up random shifts as the organization needs them. At the Health Center, we’re flipping this on its head.

It’s no secret that the past year and a half or so has been incredibly challenging for many people. But our team members keep showing up to care for our residents, and for that we’re grateful. As we strive to be the best place to live and work, offering genuine flexible scheduling was the logical next step. This option allows people to work the hours that are best for them, including the length of shifts, start times, and end times.

We know life is complicated, so we are offering this flexibility in hopes that our team members maintain a healthy work-life balance and have time for what’s important to them: family, friends, time to relax, and more.

Our flexible scheduling program also includes built-in overtime. With this bonus, our team members can work just one job, if wanted, while making enough to care for themselves and their loved ones. They may also be able to work more hours in fewer days.

We want to provide everyone at the Health Center––team members and residents alike––with predictable, consistent schedules. As we begin to roll out this program, we’ve heard from team members that they’re excited and feel empowered. We want to meet our teams where they are while maintaining our high levels of commitment, care, compassion––and our new flexible scheduling program is just one way we’re meeting this goal.
